Principal's Message
Easter is almost upon us and today, Maundy Thursday, we held our Easter Chapel called The Service of the Shadows. This has been observed by the Christian Church from very early times and commemorates the night Jesus shared a last meal with his friends (The Last Supper) before his crucifixion. Rev Steph presided over a beautiful Service that took us through the story of Jesus’s life culminating in his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Starting today St Mary’s Church is running a series of Services in the lead up to their 10am Holy Communion Service on Sunday, you can see when these are on their Facebook page.
Our students have been involved in some really interesting activities over the course of the last week. I’d like to congratulate Bianca Haugh who received the NZRCA Youth Development Award for Horsemanship at the National Final Rodeo in Methven last weekend. Well done Bianca, this is a significant achievement and we look forward to following your progress in this sport. Evie and Greta Dale competed in the National Show Jumping and Show Hunter Championships in Christchurch also over the weekend. Congratulations to both Evie and Greta who were placed 2nd in the Pony Handy Hunter Championship and 90cm Pony Emerging Talent Show Jumping Class, respectively. (For more of our Craighead Equestrian competitor results at this event please see the equestrian article later in this Newsletter.)
You will also notice some changes if you go onto our school website. Mr Hullen has been working on a few changes to the site and the initial ones rolled out for the first time yesterday. Over the course of the next few months additional changes will be made as we migrate over the content from our previous website to the new one. This is an evolving process and I would like to thank Mr Hullen and Mrs Owens for their work on this to date.
In a uniform update I would like to clarify for parents that the cream shirts that students have can still be worn this year. The phasing in of the Winter white long sleeved shirts started two years ago with a view that by 2024/2025 the cream shirts would be phased out.
It is our intention that all students should be in Winter white long sleeved shirts in the 2025 Winter. If your daughter needs new Winter shirts please purchase the white long-sleeved shirts. If your daughter's shirts are too small for her, then please see the Uniform Shop.
We wish you all a wonderful Easter break. If you are in Fairlie on Monday, at the Mackenzie A & P Show we’d love to see you there!
For those of you heading away, travel safe and we will see you all back on Wednesday.
