Inauguration Day

Thank you to all the families and whānau who joined us for Inauguration Day on Saturday. It was lovely to meet our new students and hope that they made some new friends to meet up with on Day One 2024. Our immediate focus is on students transitioning to secondary school, so our current Year 8 students played their part in this important process. Thanks to our speakers Year 7 student Lauren Crawford, and Year 9 students Ana Te Raki and Maddy Smith, who did a great job of speaking on the day, offering some wonderful insights and advice about making the most of every opportunity at school. We are very grateful to the teaching staff, Deans, Head Students, Board members, Craighead Connect, Old Girls, and Boarding, property and kitchen staff, who ensured a successful day for all.

Upgrade of Len Home bathrooms

The Board of Proprietors are very pleased to begin their upgrade of the Len Home bathrooms in the Junior Boarding wing. Local contractors Aorangi Homes have blocked off the area around the service entrance so that they can get a head start on this substantial project, given it must be completed before the beginning of the 2024 school year. These bathrooms date back to the early 1990’s, so they are definitely ready for replacement! We respectfully ask that cars are not to be driven into this area so that kitchen deliveries and contractors take priority.

NCEA

The NZQA external examination period for NCEA Levels One to Three have started and they run until Thursday 30 November. These have begun smoothly, under the direction and management of the Principals’ Nominee Mr Martin Kane and Centre Manager Mr Steve Godsiff.

Assembly

Given the high quality of performances at the recent Music Cup competition, three of our singers performed in Assembly this week. Olivia Hamilton, Nicole Bradley and Eva Booth sang in front of a very appreciate audience. They were fantastic. Thanks to local musician Sheryl Bradley for setting up and supporting the singers. We have such talent in the school!
