Craighead Old Girls’ Wall of Fame

The Craighead Old Girls’ Inaugural Cultural Wall of Fame unveiling celebration was held in the Turley Auditorium last week, with 15 Old Girls inducted into our Wall of Fame. There are six categories for the Cultural Wall of Fame – Music or Media, Science or Technology, Visual or Performing Arts/Design, Literary, Business enterprise and Service. Inductees must be a past pupil of Craighead Diocesan School and one who has become distinguished by their eminence, talents, contributions, or other merits in one or more of the fields mentioned above. Six of the inductees were present in person, while others had family members receive their award on their behalf. We are grateful to all those who had travelled to join us for this lovely occasion. Special thanks to Old Girls’ President Mrs Ruth Cooper, Commercial Operations Manager Ms Renae Meggitt and Archivist Mr David Batchelor for their efforts and organisation. For more information, please read the more detailed article provided in this newsletter.

Week 3 School Assembly

Six Year 12 students were nominated by their Year group to be considered for the role of Head Student and Deputy for 2024. All six addressed the whole school community in Assembly yesterday. As a group, they were impressive. These students will also have an interview later in the year, with the final decision announced at the end of year Prize-giving.

At this Assembly we also acknowledged other outstanding students’ achievements. Camryn Linton was named Craighead’s Junior Sportswoman for 2023, for her achievements in Volleyball, Basketball, Cricket and being named Assistant Captain of the NZ U18 Women’s ice Hockey Team. Performing Arts Leader Sophie Hogg, took out the title of National Musical Theatre Young Performer of the Year held in Palmerston North over the weekend, for which she received $5000.

Our Seniors students are now counting down towards their NCEA external examinations, which begin on Monday 6 November. Their last day is Tuesday 31 October, finishing at lunchtime. We wish them all the very best for achieving their academic goals.
