Get tuned up and tuned in for the New Year with Godspell!

Featuring teachers Victoria Chappell and Ella Thomas from Roncalli College and Cameron Lines from Timaru Girls High School!

The South Canterbury Drama League kicks off the year with a bright, happy musical guaranteed to leave you feeling great and ready for the year.

Experience the beauty and power of Godspell the musical – a cultural phenomenon.
Godspell was reinvented in 2011 as a full on rock cabaret and is now a light-hearted, positive, colourful take on the last days of Jesus, loosely based on the Gospel of St. Matthew.

The all-ages show relates parables using song, dance and humour in a series of fast-paced vignettes. Over the course of the show, the motley collection of people who gather to follow Jesus find themselves growing into a cohesive community.

Under the direction of Bronwyn Chittock and Musical Direction of Catherine Anderson, the dazzling young cast and live  band will have you laughing and clapping and stomping to unforgettable classics like the international hit, Day by Day,
and a parade of beloved songs, including Prepare Ye, Learn Your Lessons Well, All for the Best, All Good Gifts, We
Beseech Thee, Light of the World and By My Side.

Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life delivering a block-buster musical that is an
affirmation of faith, a demonstration of joy, and a celebration of our common humanity. Don’t miss it!

Presented by the South Canterbury Drama League and on stage at The Playhouse, Church St, Timaru for a strictly limited season – 1 – 4  February 2023.
