My name is Elodie Gordon, and I am the Visual Arts leader at Craighead for 2024. I am honored to have received this position and I am enjoying giving back to such an incredible school. This role did not exist last year, and I cannot thank Craighead enough for creating this opportunity. The chance to enhance and lead a department I am so passionate about is something I will be forever grateful for.

I began at Craighead in late 2020 as an anxious year 9 student who had never moved schools, let alone countries. However, despite my nerves, I was excited to join such an amazing school. I will admit, back then, I never saw art as my strongest subject. However, my love for art and design has grown immensely here, thanks to my incredible teachers who supported me and helped me improve over the last few years.

There have been many opportunities here that have helped me grow in all areas. I have been involved in a variety of committees, from the Chapel committee to the Student council, and have been Student Representative on the Board. All these roles gave me the chance to learn about leadership and form close bonds with those around me.

Looking ahead, I plan to study a Bachelor of Arts in either Fine Arts or Fashion Design. I have a great passion for both subjects and will have a hard time deciding which to study at the end of the year. I am looking to study overseas, ideally in Europe–an aspiration that, through Craighead’s support and guidance, seems more plausible than ever.

When I entered this position, my main goal was to aid the promotion, participation, and celebration of the Visual Arts at Craighead. This is something I committed to continuing. I aim to help nurture others' love for the arts, just as mine has been. It has been incredible to watch the progress of all the arts students so far, and I look forward to seeing all the finished results at the end of this year.
