Hello! My name is Georgia Coles, and I am honoured to be appointed the Sacristan for 2024! Being able to give back to Craighead in my final year in the form of a leadership role was something I had always dreamt of doing, and the fact that it has actually happened has yet to fully sink in. I’ve been blessed to lead alongside Sophie Kane, and look forward to what we’ll achieve together as leaders of the school.
I began boarding at Craighead in Year 9, overwhelmed at being in a ‘big kids school’ and only knowing a limited amount of people. I quickly realised that being here opened me up to so many new opportunities that I would’ve never been able to experience had I been somewhere else. I threw my hand up for everything from sports to music-related activities. You name it, I have probably been in it. Immersing myself in everything gave me a chance to settle on the things that I have a real passion for, like Kapa Haka and coaching sports, to name a couple. My love for academia has also been supported throughout my whole Craighead journey, excelling me all the way to the London International Youth Science Forum later this year.
Over the years, I have developed a love for the sciences, statistics and history. I have always lived by doing what you love, so these subjects, mixed with my other passions, have led me to how I see my life panning out after Craighead. Next year, I intend to take a gap year, spending my time working and travelling around Europe. On my return the following year, studying either Health Science, Criminal Justice or History. A range, I know, but whatever I do, I can’t wait to see where it takes me in my life, being forever grateful to the school that got me there.
I’ve had a fantastic first few weeks settling into both this new role and the life of a Year 13 student. During the rest of my time in this role, I hope to create a fun, positive and interactive environment inside and outside the Chapel. I hope to be a friendly and approachable person within the school and to spend my final year making memories that will last a lifetime!
