It is such a privilege to be chosen as the Deputy Head Girl for Craighead Diocesan School in 2024. Being chosen to help lead the school in my final year, alongside the Head Girl, Camryn Porter, is such a surreal feeling. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the school and to lead by example as an approachable and enthusiastic head student.

I began Craighead in Year 7 as a boarder, who had previously come from a small country school just south of Ashburton. The day I arrived, I was instantly overwhelmed by the tremendous amount of opportunities that Craighead has in all areas. I found that these opportunities that Craighead offers, allowed me to discover my passion for sport, academia, and especially the cultural side of the school. I have been involved in several committees during my time here, and have been involved with the Music Department though playing the clarinet.

Looking ahead to next year, I am hoping to start studying towards a Bachelor of Architecture. I’ve always had a passion for designing buildings, so I am excited to hopefully pursue this as my career. However, wherever I end up next year, I will always be grateful to Craighead as they've got me to where I am today. Our school has always had such a strong school spirit and it is so special that Camryn and I can build on it this year. As a school leader, my main aim is to continue to encourage all Craighead students to achieve highly in what they are passionate about and have aspirations to accomplish. Making every student feel valued and included is also important to me as I know how a smile or wave can light up anyone's day.

I've had an incredible first few weeks in this role, with the Wānaka show also being a fantastic opportunity for the head students to promote the school. I am genuinely excited for the year ahead with my year group, and cannot wait to live our last year to the fullest and leave with no regrets.
