South Island Cricket Tournament On the 17th-19th of December, several Craighead students represented South Canterbury at the Year 9 & 10 South Island Girls Cricket Festival.

Charlotte Connolly, Camryn Linton, Ruby Laming, Alice Orbell, Izzy Power, Sophie Kelly, Megan Scott, Leah Geary, and Jessica Box were in the team that won the tournament final after a close 35-over game against Christchurch Metro.

The tournament was held in Oamaru with most of the games played on St Kevin’s School grounds. The festival consisted of 8 teams ranging from Otago, Canterbury, Marlborough, Southland, and the West Coast.

Our girls played T20s each day and saw victories in all games. Overall, the tournament was a wonderful experience and we would like to give a huge thanks to Jamie Linton (coach), Sara Linton, Dan and Belinda Kelly, and the South Canterbury Cricket Association for the amazing organisation and opportunity!
