Whānau Celebration Hui

A Whānau Celebration Hui took place on Wednesday 22 November at Zest Restaurant to acknowledge those students in Kapa Haka who competed at the Flava Festival.

Sheryl and Alistair Bradley presented Matua Karl Te Raki with a beautiful guitar which is to be used at Kapa Haka practices and performances. This guitar was purchased with money raised at last year's Duets Fundraiser. Matua Karl was acknowledged for his ongoing commitment to Craighead Kapa Haka group as he has helped in the leadership of the group for over ten years. The girls performed the haka for him with a lot of power and emotion. It really was a special moment.

The McArthur family presented the Kapa Haka with two beautiful bone heru, (hair combs) that will be worn by our senior and junior Kapa Haka leaders when the group are performing. I would like to thank everyone who attended the hui for their ongoing support to the Craighead Kapa Haka group. Ngā Mihi Nui
