UNIFORM NEWS...

There are a few skirts that need some adjustment, as students have grown considerably over the holidays, so we do ask that you attend to this. For parents of boarders, who might be unable to arrange any adjustments, please contact us and we can get that sorted for you. For Day school parents please contact Donna Adams on 027 262 2333 to make an appointment.

Some confusion has arisen over jewellery and we would like to clarify expectations around this. Our school policy states that earrings are studs (gold or silver only, no pearl or sparkly earring) and that they are in the lobe of the ear. The school’s definition of ‘one earring in the lobe’ when our policy was written, is that the earring is in what is known today as the ‘firsts’ hole (the first hole), or the hole at the bottom of the lobe. We appreciate that the ‘lobe’ can fit more than one earring in it, and technically it can be argued that second and thirds are in the lobe, but our uniform policy is that students wear earrings in the lowest hole, or firsts hole only. Students are not to wear earrings in their seconds or thirds please. If they do, they will be asked to remove these.

Please ensure that any new ear piercings are done over the holiday break, to allow time for healing, before they have to be removed when school starts again.

Piercings in the top of the ear or any other part of the ear cartilage are not to have earrings in them at school and students will be asked to remove these regardless of when they were done. The wearing of plasters or tape over new piercings is not appropriate. Girls will be questioned about this as well. We understand that our students wish to remain up to date with the latest trends and they are encouraged to this in their own time however, at school there are certain expectations that all students are expected to follow and we ask for your support with the maintenance of these.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Ms Lara Hearn – Deputy Principal
