Further to the ‘hot off the press’ rowing news last week…..
South Island Rowing (SIR) must be commended for being able to run major events safely within the COVID Protection Framework Red Setting guidelines. At short notice, most of our rowing squad competed in the Rocket Foods New Zealand Rowing Club Championships held last week in perfect conditions, coming away with some very exciting results. Congratulations to all rowers, the coaches and the management team. It was a huge week, with our crews achieving two Gold Medals, two Silver Medals and a Bronze. They are now looking forward to competing in the SI Junior Championships this weekend, the South Island Secondary Schools’ Regatta mid-March, and the AON Maadi Cup in late April.
In addition to the medals mentioned in our last post, our Craighead Rowers also achieved : Gold in the Club Single; Silver in the Intermediate 8; and a Bronze in the Novice 8 .
